Description

Pathophysiology III covers many of the common medical and dysfunctional conditions of the human Nervous, Endocrine, Digestive, and Urinary Systems that a massage therapist is likely to come into contact with during the course of a typical massage practice. It is by no means a full listing of all conditions, but rather an in-depth look into the more common situations typically encountered. Being well versed in the vernacular and attributes of these various conditions ensures that the massage therapist will properly address the condition presented, as well as knowing when to refer a client out to the proper medical authority. Each section also covers local and systemic contraindications to bodywork where applicable. This will ensure that the massage therapist works within the scope of practice, thereby making sure no harm comes to the client.

Topics include:

Movement conditions of the Nervous System
Degenerative conditions of the Nervous System
Conditions of the Nervous System caused by infections
Psychiatric disorders
Defects and injuries to the Nervous System
Disorders of the Endocrine System
Disorders of the Digestive System
Disorders of the Urinary System

All installments of The Living Body SeriesĀ® are in the format of written text material with appropriate diagrams, much like a standard A&P textbook. Unlike standard textbooks, however, there are insights into the material that you, as a practicing bodyworker, will find most interesting and useful. Being well versed in this information will allow you to talk more confidently with your clients as well as with other health care professionals.

Practice questions at the end of each chapter will help you review the information and deepen your understanding of the material. These are for your use only and do not need to be submitted.

This course comes with a 25-question, multiple-choice exam which must be returned for grading. Passing grade is 18 out of 25 (72%). If for some reason you do not pass, a copy of the questions you missed will be sent back to you. Upon successfully passing the exam, a Certificate of Completion will be mailed to you.

This course is approved for 12 CE credits by the following:

The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (includes the AMTA)

The Louisiana State Board of Massage Therapy

The Florida State Board of Massage Therapy

Please note that The Living Body SeriesĀ® is listed under the name of John H. Schewe with the above boards.
